Brave Space Alliance
Brave Space Alliance (BSA) is a Black- and trans-led LGBTQ+ center on Chicago’s South Side, founded in 2017. BSA is rooted in mutual aid, advocacy, and knowledge-sharing, serving the specific needs of Black and brown trans and queer individuals.
Their work centers on creating affirming, for-us-by-us resources across key areas:
Health – Supporting holistic well-being beyond just the absence of illness.
Housing – Redefining shelter as home, safety, and community.
Food – Using food as a tool for nourishment, joy, and cultural connection.
Identity – Celebrating self-expression and the right to show up authentically in the world.
BSA envisions a world where everyone can thrive fully and unapologetically.
