Reclaiming your Financial Power

Reclaiming Your Financial Power: Breaking the Cycles of Economic Abuse

Money is about more than just math; it’s about freedom. For many women, money has been used as a tool of control, manipulation, and isolation. If you’ve ever had your spending scrutinized, been prevented from working, or had debt hidden from you, you may have experienced Financial Abuse.

In this interactive workshop, &Rise, in partnership with Jasmine Lopez, provide a safe, trauma-informed space to deconstruct your "money story." We aren't just talking about budgets; we are talking about reclaiming the right to own your future. Whether you are currently in a difficult dynamic or are a survivor looking to rebuild your foundation, this workshop is designed to turn financial fear into financial confidence.

What is Financial Abuse?

Financial abuse is a subtle but devastating form of domestic or relational abuse. It occurs when a partner, family member, or caregiver takes total control over your ability to acquire, use, and maintain economic resources.

It often looks like:

  • Controlled Access: Forcing you to hand over your paycheck or giving you an "allowance."

  • Economic Sabotage: Preventing you from attending work, school, or job interviews.

  • Hidden Strings: Creating "secret" debt in your name or ruining your credit score to prevent you from being able to rent an apartment or buy a car.

  • The "Asking" Dynamic: Making you feel guilty or afraid to ask for money for basic necessities like food or medicine.

How This Workshop Will Help You

Reclaiming your power requires both emotional healing and practical tools. During our time together, we will:

  • Identify the Red Flags: Learn to spot the subtle tactics of economic control before they escalate.

  • Audit Your Money Story: Explore how your past experiences have shaped your current relationship with money.

  • Build a Safety Blueprint: Creating a "freedom fund" in a way that prioritizes your safety.

  • Establish Financial Boundaries: Practice the language of setting firm boundaries with partners, family, and even yourself.

  • Find Your Community: Connect with other women who understand that financial independence is the ultimate form of self-care.

You Are Worth the Investment

Independence starts with an empowered mindset. Join us to move past the shame often associated with financial trauma and step into a life of economic security and self-reliance.

Virtual Filler Word Detox Workshop for Latinas

Are you a Latina and you find yourself saying "um," "like," "so," or "eh" when you’re nervous or thinking on your feet? You aren't alone! These little filler words are just habits, and like any habit, we can "detox" them to make our voices even more powerful.

Join the Latina Speaking Network for a fun, relaxed, and highly interactive virtual workshop. This isn’t a lecture—it’s a practice space! We are going to learn why we use filler words and spend the majority of our time in small groups practicing how to replace them with the "power of the pause."

Come as you are, meet your sisters in the network, and let's help each other speak with more confidence and clarity.

The Agenda

  • 0:00 – 0:15 | The Warm-Up: Welcome, a quick "Why we do it" lesson, and a fun icebreaker to get everyone’s voice in the room.

  • 0:15 – 0:45 | The "Catch & Release" Practice: Small group exercises to identify our personal "filler word of choice" in a low-pressure environment.

  • 0:45 – 1:15 | The Power of the Pause: Interactive drills focused on breathing and slowing down to eliminate the "um" before it starts.

  • 1:15 – 1:30 | The Final Flow: A 60-second "Detox Challenge" where you’ll put your new skills to the test with a supportive partner.

  • 1:30 – 2:00 | The Connection Lounge: Open networking! Now that the "detox" is done, enjoy relaxed conversations and build new professional friendships with other Latinas in the network.

What to Bring:

  • Your favorite beverage (cafecito, tea, or water).

  • A notebook if you like to take notes (optional!).

  • An open mind and a supportive vibe.

Ready to clear the clutter? We can't wait to hear your voice!

Virtual Navigating Toxic Relationships Support Group for Women

Join us for a chill space where women can share, support, and figure out how to ditch toxic vibes together.

Does it feel like you’re constantly walking on eggshells? Do you find yourself questioning your own reality after a conversation with a loved one or a colleague?

Toxicity doesn’t always look like a movie villain. Often, it’s a subtle pattern of manipulation, boundary-crossing, and emotional exhaustion. Whether it’s a romantic partner, a family member, a "frenemy," or a toxic workplace, the impact on your mental health is real—and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Join &Rise for a dedicated support group where we pull back the curtain on toxic dynamics. This is a trauma-informed, safe space for women to share their stories, find validation, and learn the tools necessary to reclaim their peace.

This group will cover:

  1. Recognizing gaslighting, love-bombing, and stone-walling across all types of relationships.

  2. Understanding why we settle into these dynamics and how trauma impacts our boundaries.

  3. Practical ways to say "no" and protect your energy without the guilt.

  4. Whether you are staying, leaving, or going "low contact," we discuss how to prioritize your safety and sanity.

  5. Connecting with a community of women who truly get it.

Who Should Attend?

This group is for any woman who has experienced (or is currently experiencing) a relationship that feels draining, manipulative, or emotionally unsafe. Whether the person in question is a partner, a parent, a sibling, or a boss, your experience is valid here.

&Rise Women's Empowerment Book Club

Are you tired of feeling like you are a "project" that needs constant repairing? At &Rise, we believe you aren't broken—you are evolving.

Featured Book: There is Nothing to Fix by Suzanne Jones

Event Overview

Are you tired of feeling like you are a "project" that needs constant repairing? At &Rise, we believe you aren't broken—you are evolving. Join us for an intimate and transformative book club discussion as we dive into Suzanne Jones’ powerful book, There is Nothing to Fix.

In a world that constantly tells women they aren't "enough," this book offers a radical shift: the idea that healing isn't about fixing your flaws, but about befriending your body and reclaiming your innate wholeness.

What We’ll Discuss

  1. The "Fix-It" Trap: Why we feel the need to constantly "repair" ourselves and how to stop.

  2. Somatic Awareness: Understanding how our bodies hold onto trauma and how to listen to its signals.

  3. Compassionate Connection: Moving from self-criticism to self-celebration.

  4. The Power of Presence: Practical ways to stay grounded when life feels overwhelming.

What to Expect

  1. A Safe Space: A judgment-free zone where you can share your thoughts and experiences.

  2. Guided Discussion: Structured conversation starters to help us dive deep into the chapters.

  3. Guided Journaling Prompts: participants will also be able to journal together as a group.

  4. Community Connection: Meet other women on a similar journey of healing and self-discovery.

About the book club facilitator, Jennifer Palsma:

As a 911 Dispatcher for 14 years, I have been with people who are in their darkest moments in life. I worked as a Chemical Dependency Counselor in an all-male prison and found that helping people rebuild connections allows them to begin healing. I worked with people who suffer from mental illness and would respond directly to the scene when they were amid crisis. I am grateful to be a part of a community dedicated to helping women rise to the top.

A friendly reminder that when you purchase tickets to any of our events, 100% of the profits always go back to our free programming. Not only do you have access to this impactful event but you're giving back to a great cause simply by purchasing a ticket.

Women’s Community Healing Circle

We know things have been heavy. With fear, grief, and uncertainty rising—this circle is a space for women to pause, breathe, and be held in community.

Whether you’ve been directly impacted by ICE raids or are carrying the weight of concern for others, this space is for you.

🕯️ This is a space for collective healing, where we’ll:

• Begin with grounding and breathwork led by Jennifer Solarte, Founder of &Rise

• Receive legal updates and information from Immigration Attorney Claudia Casas

• Learn coping strategies and emotional support tools from Dr. Xiomara Cervantes-Gómez, Founder + Principal of Xritica

• Share our stories, reflections, or simply listen

• Close with affirmations, shared resources, and a sense of connection

You don’t need to have the words. You don’t need to be “okay.” You just need to come as you are.

Speakers & Facilitators:

Jennifer Solarte – Founder & Executive Director of &Rise

Jennifer supports women who have experienced trauma and adversity through healing-centered events, counseling, and recovery services across the U.S. As a survivor herself, she brings empathy, trauma-informed care, and certified expertise in crisis support, emotional well-being, and EFT tapping. Her work centers on creating safe, empowering environments where women can feel seen, supported, and capable of thriving.

Claudia Casas – Immigration Attorney

Carla Casas is a trauma-informed immigration attorney and the heart behind Casas Immigration, Ltd., where she advocates fiercely for survivors and immigrant families seeking safety and stability. Rooted in empathy and cultural humility, Carla’s work centers on restoring dignity and hope through family-based petitions, VAWA, U visas, and removal defense. She believes healing begins when we are heard, and that every story is a source of power.

Dr. Xiomara Cervantes-Gómez – Founder + Principal of Xritica

Dr. Cervantes-Gómez leads Xritica, a transdisciplinary advocacy firm offering strategic advocacy, survivor accompaniment, and public education for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities navigating institutional harm.
